Before you start thinking ‘hang on Beth, it’s February, isn’t it a bit late for last years favourites?!’ – I can explain. I completely forgot I had this post sitting in my drafts and I thought it would be a waste to just forget about it so here comes the latest post you’ll ever see! Decision making is definitely not my strongest point so you can imagine how tricky I found it when it came to picking my favourites of 2015. Somehow I managed to cut it down, and some of these products will be no surprise to those of you who are regular readers of my blog, as they probably have featured quite a lot either talked about on my twitter or blog in the past.
Last year I found a lot of hidden beauties that have become firm favourites, and a few new products I had for Christmas that have become everyday holy grails which I’m sure you will be hearing all about very soon! Anyway, let’s get onto the good stuff..
Favourite Foundation | Estee Lauder Double Wear £26 – £30 Buy Here
I think the foundation category was one of the hardest mainly because I’ve loved two foundations this year – Estee Lauder Double Wear and Nars Sheer Glow. It took me a while to cut it down to just one and I ended up going with Double Wear because I do feel I’ve gone through the most bottles, and worn it on a day to day basis much more. Double Wear is everything I love in a foundation – high coverage and relatively small bottle which makes it ideal for travelling. The price is a bit of a downside I know, but it really is worth splashing the cash on, even if your purse hurts afterwards!
Favourite Concealer | Estee Lauder Stay In Place Concealer £22 Buy Here
No, I’m not being sponsored by Estee Lauder which you might be questioning at this point.. I just really bloody love their products! Again, this might be a little splurge for the purse on just a concealer, but it’s totally worth it. If you want a high coverage concealer you know you can turn to when it’s that time of the month , or something to hide the under eye circles from a late night watching too many episodes on Netflix.. don’t worry we’ve all been there.. then this will be the one for you.
Favourite Powder | Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Natural £24 Buy Here
I’ve never really been a powder type of girl. I mean, I’m all up for my makeup lasting all day, but I was never convinced it made a difference. I would much rather an extra minute in bed if I’m honest! Back at the start of 2015 I decided to give this powder a try and I was actually pretty shocked. I never really thought powders made much difference, but this one made my skin look flawless on top of my foundation. I also found my makeup did stay longer than it usually would so I would highly recommend this powder if you’re on the look out for one.
Favourite Contour | Seventeen Define & Contour Kit £5.99
This was another one of the really tricky ones.. honestly I could pick at least five for this category! Last year was really the year of contouring for me, and I’ve tried so many different products for it and I’ve literally loved them all. One that stood out for me was this Seventeen one because it also has a highlight in there too. It’s cheap, and just as amazing as some high end contour kits.
Favourite Highlight | Mac Prep & Prime in Light Boost £19 Buy Here
I’ve actually ran out of this currently but it’s so amazing! Honestly, it is one of the best highlighters I’ve ever tried and one I always go back to. I’m desperate for a new one which I will soon be getting, but it really does help create that Kim K highlight. I use it under my eyes and it really brightens up the area. You can also use it on other areas of the face too but my favourite is under the eyes and it
Favourite Brushes | Real Techniques Buy Here
I couldn’t write this post without giving these brushes a mention. I use these brushes every single day without fail and I love them so much! They’re incredibly soft and I don’t use any other brushes. I really love the Core Collection and the Starter Set – both great starter brushes to own!
Favourite Blusher | Soap & Glory Glow All Out £11
Whenever my face is looking a little dull, this product completely transforms my makeup. It adds the most gorgeous glow to my cheeks with a little dust of pink too, and it looks perfect. It makes a change from just the average highlighter/blusher because it literally is a two in one product. The colour is like nothing I’ve ever seen before and I will never stop repurchasing this!
Favourite Eyeliners | Eyeko Making Eyes Blue Teal Liner £15 Buy Here & Rimmel Scandal Eyes Liner in Nude £3.99 Buy Here
You might be thinking both these eyeliners are pretty strange colours.. a blue and a nude? I was clearly feeling a bit on the adventurous side when I purchased both, and it completely worked. I like to use the nude eyeliner on the lower lash line just to brighten up the eye area and it really does work. On days where I’m feeling adventurous, the Eyeko blue teal liner is gorgeous. I never thought you’d see me wearing blue eyeliner but with brown eyes, it looks really pretty!
Favourite Eyeshadow | Stila Kitten £12
I don’t think I will ever be able to put into words how much I love this eyeshadow. I’ve had it in my collection for so long hence why it’s broke in the pictures above. I shall be repurchasing another very soon! It’s really soft to apply, and Kitten is the most gorgeous shimmery shade which brightens up the eye area perfectly. I get so many compliments whenever I wear this because it catches the light, and I’ve been wearing it on a day to day basis for the past few months!
Favourite Mascara | Benefit Roller Lash £19.50 Buy Here
I envy you if you have amazing long fluttery lashes because I would do anything for them! My lashes aren’t really short or anything, but I would just love longer lashes. Since I started wearing Roller Lash this year, I’ve noticed a difference in the way my lashes stay up throughout the day and they hold a curl perfectly. I’m still on the look out for that ‘perfect’ mascara, but Roller Lash has been my go-to mascara all year.
Favourite Palette | Urban Decay Naked 2 £38 Buy Here
No matter how many palettes Urban Decay release, Naked 2 will forever be my favourite. I used to own Naked 3 but I gave it to my best friend because I never used it as much as Naked 2. I absolutely love all the colours in this palette (maybe besides the black!), and I wear them all.
Favourite Lipsticks | Mac Ruby Woo, Mac Modesty & YSL Peach Passion
Ooh here come the lipsticks. This was so hard cutting it down to just three lipsticks because there were so many I wanted to pick! Mac Ruby Woo is a stunning red colour and it’s been my favourite glam red lip of the year. When the Kylie Jenner lip trend went crazy last year, I found myself getting Velvet Teddy but somehow I’ve lost it. It’s probably in the bottom of one of my bags which I will be definitely having a look for, but a shade quite similar is Modesty. It’s not as dark but the perfect nude lip. Last but not least, for the peachy pout, YSL Peach Passion was my favourite throughout the summer months. It’s so creamy and luxury and the packaging is my absolute favourite!
I hope you enjoyed reading what my 2015 favourites were, even if they were a little late! I’d love to know your favourites so please let me know!
