Blog Photo Prop Ideas

As a blogger I'm constantly on the lookout for photo props and I know I'm not the only one. I think I'm slowly driving everyone in the house insane by rummaging around for any hidden goods! The marble blogger craze has been all the talk for many months as I'm sure you know, and I've yet to go down that road surprisingly. I couldn't find a suitable one for a while but whilst typing up this post, I've managed to come across a few marble props that have taken my fancy. In the meantime I've made do with other things which I thought I'd show you today so you can get a few ideas for yourself.

The Marble Craze Props
First things first, let's get the marble craze out of the way. I really envy people who have lots of pretty marble worktops in their houses - it just screams good Instagram shots! A really cheap marble background I came across is from Wilko for only £4 here. It's a self adhesive film which you stick onto surfaces. What you could do is back it with something like cardboard, stick it on top of your dressing table or any flat surface you don't mind using. Another pretty marble prop is the Ceramic Plate from H&M for £6.99.

Other Props
I really recommend going to places such as Homesense and TKMaxx because they have amazing things for really cheap prices and you end up getting much more when that happens. The above pink basket was from Homesense but it's not online so I can't link it for you. The thing with Homesense is you literally have to go in there and just search for things you like because they're constantly changing the items up so I can't guarantee it'll still be there, however there will probably be things very similar. I've had a look online and Not On The Highstreet do a copper basket and there is also this really cute copper candle holder lantern which would look great in photos here. Note that these two are slightly more expensive - I personally don't like to spend a fortune on blog props which is why I've made sure this post features affordable things but I thought I'd include two on the expensive side just incase as we all have our own preferences.

Another thing I do a lot is use my jewellery in a few of my photos. Everyone has jewellery whether it be rings or necklaces somewhere so that's another really easy option that you might not have thought of. New Look do some cute rose gold jewellery that I sometimes tend to use - you can have a look here. From New Look too are these pretty clutch bags which would look great in photos.

I also use artificial flowers. Some pretty ones I've found are these silk flowers and I use flowers a lot as they really help brighten up a photo. Simple things like fairy lights, books, purses and makeup bags are easy things we probably all have laying around somewhere in the house that we don't think about using. When you have a play around whilst taking the photos, you'd be surprised at what actually looks nice once you've edited them. You don't necessary need gorgeous backdrops and fancy props to make a photo look appealing.

Above you might be able to see a white flower pot - you may notice it from a lot of bloggers as it's a bit of a staple within the blogging world! It's from Ikea here for only £2 which is a complete bargain! Another bargain from Ikea is this white candle dish with really cute flower detailing all around the edge.

Recently my nan bought me some of these Acrylic Diamonds (I told you the craze was catching onto my family too now who are hunting for things to give me!) I have no idea where they are from but I've found some on eBay pretty similar here. At first I didn't really know how I could use them but I decided to lay a few within the photo and it turned out fine. The white ones I use more as they pretty much go with anything, but you could always get other colours to add a pop of colour like the pink above for example. Last but not least, from Hobbycraft is this pack of two pretty glitter tapes. You can cut a strip off and lay them in a photograph. They look really pretty and catch the light perfectly leaving a trace of shimmer which I love.

So there we have it - hopefully you now have enough photo prop ideas to last you awhile! Let me know what you use in your photos or tweet me (bethxlouisex)

  2. I'm like you and am always on the lookout for props - my bedroom is starting to look a bit like Aladdin's cave! Homesense is definitely a real gem. I also love looking round Dunelm, B&M and The Range. Since starting blogging a few years ago though I have always got my eyes peeled for anything that might look pretty in my photos :)

  6. I think that I could use those acrylic diamonds widely for decoration in general. I meant to say for jewelry and room decoration and so on.
